Moab UT, Arches National Park, Road Trip Day 4 (part 1)

June 2, 2021

Hiking - 7.8 miles, 3:45 total time and 2:59 actual hiking time.

Today we started early with a hike on the Devil's Garden trail.  Headed out from the hotel around 0615 and got to the trailhead just after 0700.  Even got lucky and snag the very 1st parking space by the trailhead AND it is even in the shade at the time.

I need to stress that you need to get to get there early.  Definitely get there before 8am, because the parking lot fills up and the improved trails will get crowed.

We took the trail counter clockwise, which I think is the better direction, especially since you are to claim up the rock face instead of down.

Just before the Landscape Arch, you split off to the "primitive trail" which is a lot of sand and over the rocks.  It's much quieter with a lot less people on it and part of the trail gets a little hard.

Large portion of the trail involves sand, but the view is great.
Yap, we were actually down there, and the rock is pretty steep and slick.
Short hike away is the Private Arch.
Double O Arches, view from the rock ridge.

We had to double back a little bit when Jessica realized that she dropped her sunglasses.  But luckily, we were able to find it in the sand by the Double O Arches.  So glad we did.

Couple of side spur of additional arches and we are back at the Landscape Arch.  From there, it's a quick walk back to the trailhead/parking lot.  By this time, the lot is completely full and cars were waiting for spaces.  So, go early, you will be happy that you did.
